Our property features 11 private cabins, each thoughtfully designed to represent a different building you might have found along the main street of an Old West town, from the Sheriff's Office and Saloon to the Blacksmith Shop, or Bank. While every cabin captures the rustic spirit of the American frontier, each is equipped with the modern comforts today's travelers appreciate.

Our Journey
A shared dream, a piece of property in Island Park, and a vision for something different—that's how Old West Escapes began. Here’s the story of how our little Old West town came to life
After years of dreaming about owning and building a business together, David and Julie found the perfect piece of land in Island Park, Idaho. With Yellowstone nearby and room to bring their vision to life, they knew they had found the right place to begin.
With the property secured, David and Julie began designing and engineering the vision that would become Old West Escapes. Every detail was carefully considered as the idea of a late-1800s Old West town began to take shape.
Construction began. With David's background as a licensed contractor and the help of family, the long-awaited dream finally started becoming a reality—one building at a time.
The People Behind the Cabins
Old West Escapes began with a simple dream—to create a place where families could experience the charm of the American frontier while making lasting memories together.
In 2018, we found the perfect property in Island Park, Idaho, just 30 minutes from Yellowstone National Park's West Entrance, and set out to build that dream from the ground up. Inspired by the character of a late 1800s western town, we designed each of our 11 private cabins to represent a different piece of frontier life—from the Sheriff's Office and Saloon to the Blacksmith Shop, Mercantile, and Rail Station.
As a licensed contractor, David enjoyed bringing the town to life one building at a time, while Julie's business background helped shape the guest experience that makes Old West Escapes what it is today. Along with the help of our daughters, this truly became a family project built with hard work, creativity, and a shared vision.
Today, our greatest satisfaction comes from welcoming visitors from around the world and seeing families, couples, and friends create memories here before heading off to explore Yellowstone and Island Park. Whether you're here for adventure, relaxation, or simply to experience something a little different, we hope you'll feel right at home in our little Old West town.
